The Rocky Horror Show has become a cultural phenomenon since its debut in 1973, known for its unique blend of science fiction, camp horror, and rock music. It tackles provocative themes on sexuality and self-expression, captivating audiences through its enduring popularity on both stage and screen.
To celebrate its 50th anniversary, a collection of 50 NFTs inspired by the show has been released. The inaugural TimeWarp NFT features the iconic "blood drip" typography from the theatrical performance's title and is listed at 0.1 ETH. The remaining 49 NFTs will be dropped unexpectedly on the official social media pages of The Rocky Horror Show NFTs over two weeks, each at different prices and random times.
Holders of these TimeWarp NFTs will also receive a complimentary character pack featuring NFT renditions of the full ensemble cast of The Rocky Horror Show. Each pack contains nine single-edition NFTs depicting characters like Frank-N-Furter, Magenta, Riff Raff, and more. The NFTs will be hosted on the Polygon network and directly delivered to the TimeWarp owners.
Clem Chambers, CEO of Online Blockchain plc, expressed excitement about the TimeWarp NFTs, calling them a gateway into The Rocky Horror Show's expanding Web3 narrative. He also hinted at plans to create a Rocky Horror-themed metaverse for NFT holders, signaling an exciting journey ahead.
Earlier this year, Online Blockchain announced a global licensing agreement with Interfishnet Limited, the rights holder of The Rocky Horror Show's intellectual property. This partnership aims to develop various character NFTs, aligning perfectly with the show's celebration of individuality, self-expression, pleasure-seeking, and gender fluidity, all of which resonate across generations, cultures, and sexual ideologies.
